The picturesque health resort Kochel am See is part of the administrative district Upper Bavaria and situated 605 meters above sea level.
Kochel has about 4300 residents with its districts Altjoch, Brunnenbach, Ort, Pessenbach, Pfisterberg and Ried. It is an ideal spot for many activities.
Kochel am See was originally a fishing village. Today it is a well-known tourist destination that offers many excursions for families, hikers, cyclists and those interested in art.

Art & Culture – the Bavarian region with painters and artists
The famous painter Franz Marc gave his adopted country the honorary title “The Blue Country”. His works can be seen at the Franz Marc Museum in Kochel am See. The work of his fellow artists of the artist group “Blaue Reiter” Kandinsky, Münter, Macke and Klee can be seen in Schlossmuseum in Murnau. The open-air museum Glentleiten is worth a visit, too. Around the area of Kochelsee many beautiful churches await you – the most beautiful is the Sanctuary “auf der Wies”.
